.IE Deleted Domains - Some Good Ones…

After reading a quite interesting post from Richard Hearne, I decided to take a trip over to the IEDR Deleted Domains List to see if there was anything up there worth going for. Richard had been talking about the head start you can get by obtaining a deleted domain that has had a good reputation with the search engines in it’s past life, e.g. a high Google Page Rank. It is quite difficult to get a decent .com that has been deleted but it is far easier to pick up a .ie, as it is not in as much demand.

So, from the fairly big list of domains that were there, I’ve pulled out a few that I think are good and could be used by someone. There’s one or two in there I like myself and might go off and register now. Here’s the list anyway:

appoint.ie
appointment.ie
backup.ie
blanchardstown.ie
bluesquare.ie
breathaliser.ie
breathalyser.ie
breathtester.ie
carparts.ie
carstuff.ie
cleaners.ie
competitions.ie
dad.ie
diets.ie
flatpack.ie
friend.ie
landsurvey.ie
meetup.ie
menu.ie
mynewhome.ie
mypub.ie
noworries.ie
painrelief.ie
partimejobs.ie
parttimejob.ie
pokerforum.ie
rightplace.ie
silence.ie
slidingdoors.ie
thebox.ie
*******.ie - domain removed from list - see comments for reason why
tshirts.ie
wiseup.ie

For the relevant industry and target market (and maybe with some good Google points built up), these domains could be a very good investment for new and existing businesses.

I might start reporting on this on a bi-weekly basis! :D

The list only updates every two weeks as the deletions are only done once a fortnight on Fridays

Thanks for that. As I mentioned… I might keep posting the “better” domains that fall into that list. I also had a feeling you would be the first to reply to this post :D

And be careful to check out what was on them previously. Obviously grabbing something that used to house a nice EU-funded website wont hurt.

Dear David Behan
Would you mind taking thepale.ie off this posting
as it is NOT available……………..your information is quite incorrect sir……..and would you mind explaining where you got your “info” from in order to verify your “claim”

Yours, most sincerely
The Pale

Hi The Pale,
I published this post back in January of this year. I got the information from the IEDR Deleted Domains List (linked to from the top of the thread). I didn’t just make them up.
This domain was in that list at the time of publishing (whether it was a mistake on the IEDR’s part, the domain had been deleted and subsequently re-registered, or another reason). Are you sure you didn’t let your domain expire? When have you had it registered since? The expiry of your domain on 9th January 2008 suggests that it could have possibly been deleted and registered in the same time frame as this post, hence why it was originally in this list but not anymore.
This list is almost 6 months old and it is not my responsibility to check each domain to see if it is registered and take it off this list. I was simply reporting at the time of writing. I will however remove your domain from the list as requested.
Would you be so kind to let me know when you first registered this domain?
Rgds, Dave

The list changes all the time.. It’s unlikely that a domain would be deleted and appear on the list, as the list is always 2 weeks behind ie. domain gets deleted on 1st Friday of month, but won’t appear on the public list until the 3rd Friday. Of course it will already have been suspended for the previous two weeks.

This domain business is quite a good business to invest in, but I do not know where to start: if you could lend me a helping hand i would be very grateful.
